How far are you booked out with scheduling?

Scheduling varies depending on the time of year, weather, and current workload. In some cases, we may be able to schedule within a few days, while during busier seasons it can be several weeks out, as demand for tree work tends to fluctuate throughout the year . That said, we always do our best to accommodate specific timelines, deadlines, and urgent situations whenever possible, and will work with you to find a timeframe that makes sense for your project.

If you decide to cancel your job and remove it from our schedule after accepting your estimate through our QuickBooks system OR or if our crew is deployed to your property and denied access upon arrival, a cancellation fee of $350 may be applied and will be invoiced directly to you. However, If you need to request a rescheduling or short-term delay of your job, accommodations may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • Neighbor Permissions: If access to a neighboring property is required to complete your tree work, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to obtain written consent from the neighbor before any work begins. If necessary, please inform your neighbors of our scheduled work.
  • Confirm Tree Ownership: Verify that the trees scheduled for service are on your property. If they belong to a neighboring property, obtain the necessary permissions.
  • Move Vehicles: If applicable, please relocate vehicles from the driveway and park a few houses down. Our trucks need to park in front of your property for immediate access to equipment.
  • Clear the Work Zone: While our team will make every effort to ensure the area is ready before beginning work, we kindly ask that you remove any personal items that could be in the work zone. This includes, but is not limited to, garden decorations, bird feeders, statues, wind chimes, potted plants, or other valuables.
  • Pet Waste: Please dispose of any pet waste in the work area prior to our arrival. An additional fee may apply if a significant amount of pet waste is present.
  • Site Conditions: If the yard is too wet from recent rain or the job site has changed since estimate was given., please notify us as soon as possible so we can reschedule for another day, if needed.
  • Avoid Scheduling Other Work: To ensure safety and efficiency, please refrain from scheduling other work at your property on the same day as our tree service, as additional crews may interfere with our operations.

Yes — all debris from tree trimming and tree removal is fully cleaned up and hauled away unless otherwise requested. We take pride in leaving every property clean, safe, and well-presented once the work is complete. Throughout the job, we treat your property as if it were our own, using proper equipment and ground protection mats when necessary to minimize impact and protect your lawn, driveway, and surrounding areas, ensuring a professional finish from start to final cleanup.

Yes, but it is optional and will be itemized on the estimate. We do NOT haul away the mulch created after stump grinding. Stump grinding typically occurs several days after tree work unless specified otherwise. Utilities must be marked before grinding begins—JTS will contact 811 for public utilities, but customers are responsible for marking private utilities (e.g., irrigation, drainage, invisible fences). We are not liable for damage to unmarked underground items. Stumps are typically ground +/- 6 inches below ground level, and surface roots are excluded unless noted on the estimate. Minimal lawn wear may occur during grinding, and cleanup is limited to piling mulch neatly and blowing the surrounding area. If metal is detected in the area, we reserve the right to refuse grinding or adjust the price. Replanting in the same spot will require additional preparation by a landscaper.

JTS utilizes a range of professional equipment, including bucket trucks, mini skid steers, grapple trucks, aerial lifts, wood chippers, and cranes, as needed to safely and efficiently complete the job. The use of specialized equipment allows us to perform work more precisely, reduce risk, and complete projects in a timely manner. While it may appear extensive, the use of proper equipment often improves efficiency — ultimately saving time, which can help control overall cost.

JTS takes every precaution to minimize disturbances to your property, using heavy-duty ground protection mats and precise tree trimming and removal techniques. While rain may heighten the risk of wear and tear, we remain committed to minimizing any impact. Please note that tree work is inherently an aggressive and messy process, and minor ground impacts may occur. Customers are required to inform JTS of any underground utilities, septic systems, or other special/unique situations.

Absolutely. JTS carries comprehensive General Liability insurance and a legitimate Workers’ Compensation policy that fully protects your property, family, and our team. Unlike many tree service providers who rely on inadequate “ghost policies” that fail to offer real protection for their workers or customers, our Workers’ Compensation coverage is robust and designed to cover all team members actively involved in your project. This commitment to proper insurance demonstrates our dedication to safety, professionalism, and providing you with peace of mind throughout every project we undertake.

Yes, you are welcome to observe, provided it is from a safe distance. For safety reasons, customers are not permitted to be in or near the designated work zone or any equipment. We recommend watching from inside your home or from a secure location away from the active work area.

Pricing depends on several factors, including the type of tree, its size and shape, job site access, proximity to structures, and overall condition of the tree, as larger or more complex trees require more time, labor, and specialized equipment . We provide fair, accurate pricing based on the scope of work — we’re not the cheapest, and we’re not the most expensive, but we focus on doing the job safely and correctly the first time so you don’t have to deal with damage, shortcuts, or having to call someone back to fix it later.

Within a few days of job completion, we will send an invoice via email. We offer the following payment methods:

  • Credit Card (2.5% fee applies to credit card transactions)

We offer in-house payment plan options where you may split up the cost of the job over a predetermined time period. There will be a due date set and the customer is responsible for making sure the balance is paid in full by the due date.

The best time depends on the tree species and the reason for pruning. Many trees are best pruned during dormancy/cooler winter months, while others can be pruned throughout the year for safety, clearance, or deadwood removal.

In most cases, removing a tree on private residential property does not require a permit. However, the City of Charlotte has special protections for certain trees, including **Heritage Trees measuring 30 inches or greater in diameter** and trees located within the **public right-of-way**. These trees may require City approval or a permit before removal or other work can begin.

For safety reasons, we do not perform tree work within 10 feet of energized power lines. Work within this safety zone requires specialized line-clearance qualifications and should be coordinated with the utility provider or a qualified line-clearance contractor. Once the electrical hazard has been addressed, we can complete the remaining tree work.

We generally do not recommend tree topping. Topping can create structural problems, excessive regrowth, decay, and long-term health issues. Instead, we use proper pruning techniques designed to achieve the desired objective while preserving the tree’s natural structure.
